Cookies & Storage Policy
Last updated: 15 June 2026
1. The short version
PYmaths sets no cookies — not first-party, not third-party, not marketing, not analytics. We do use your browser's local storage for two functional records, described fully below.
2. Cookies vs. local storage, plainly
A cookie is a small file a site asks your browser to keep, often sent back to the server on every request. Local storage is similar in size but stays entirely on your device and is never transmitted anywhere. We use only the latter, and only so the app can function.
3. What we store on your device
| Key | Purpose | Lifespan | Category |
|---|---|---|---|
mte:attempt:v1 |
Crash-proof resume: your in-progress paper, answers, and timer endpoint | Until you submit or discard the test | Strictly necessary |
mte:builder:v1 |
Remembers builder selections (topics, difficulty, mode, paper size) | Overwritten whenever you change them | Functional |
Both are exempt from consent requirements because the service you asked for — a resumable mock test that remembers your setup — cannot work without them.
4. Why there is no consent banner
Consent banners exist for non-essential tracking. We have none: no analytics, no advertising, no social pixels. Showing a banner for storage that is strictly necessary would be noise, not protection. If we ever add non-essential technology, a banner will appear before it does, and this page will change first.
5. Third-party technology
Fonts (Google Fonts), the mathematics renderer (KaTeX via jsDelivr), and hosting (Cloudflare Pages) are fetched from third-party networks. They do not place marketing cookies through this site; like any web request, they may log standard technical data such as IP addresses. See the Privacy Policy for their details.
6. How to control or delete
- In the app: the Discard button deletes an in-progress attempt immediately
- In your browser: clearing site data for this domain removes both records entirely
- Private/incognito windows: storage is discarded automatically when the window closes (the app detects this and simply runs without resume)
Note that deleting storage also deletes any resumable test in progress — that is the trade-off of keeping everything on your device.
